This is fabulous. Have read the prior reviews and have not experienced any of the issues mentioned by others. Key stroke entry is great, solid feel, no problem with going fast or duplicate entries. The reason I say to stay away from the HP 12C is that you do not know when you need the maual, and you DO need the manual to do basic calculations, even small variations of the same calculation. For example, if you calculate a very basic loan payment with a term of 48 months, 5% monthly interest and $20,000 principal value on this TI and the HP 12C, you will get the same answer. However, if you change the term to 48.5 months, you get a different answer on the TI than the HP 12C. The TI answer is correct, but the HP 12C answer is not. In order to get the right answer on the HP 12C, you need to read the manual in order to input a term with a decimal place in it like 48.5 months. In other words, on the HP 12C, you do not input a term with a decimal place the same way you input a term without a decimal place. The underlying problem is that you just don't know when you need the manual for the HP12C and when you don't. It's always a safe bet to use the TI, and that is why it is allowed on so many professional exams. I recently purchased both an HP 12C and a TI BA II Plus Pro. I have also used the HP 12C Platinum edition. While I am well-versed in RPN and like the HP models of calculators, I think the BA II Plus Pro is fit to surpass the 12C as the new standard in financial calculators for a number of reasons.

First, the newer 12C models are no longer made in Singapore. They definitely do not feel as sturdy as the older ones. While many like the firm tactile response of the 12C keys, the BA II Plus Pro has a similar tactile response.

Second, HP failed to improve the design of the 12C Platinum by adding trigonometric functions. The BA II Plus Pro includes the trigonometric functions, and one could viably use it for a general-purpose calculator, not just a financial calculator. One improvement made in the 12C Platinum edition, while bemoaned by fans of RPN, is the choice between algebraic and RPN modes.

Finally, the BA II Plus Pro is significantly faster than the 12C and slightly faster than the 12C Platinum. While the 12C models are programmable and the BA II Plus Pro is not, if you are merely looking for a sturdy financial calculator and do not care about the 12C's programming capabilities, I would recommend considering the BA II Plus Pro. However, keep in mind that while the BA II Plus Pro has an adequate manual, the 12C manual is excellent in every respect and much more in-depth.

The downside is the extensive manual and the time it took me to learn the mechanics.
