Casio FR-2650A PLUS Printing Calculator Right now

When you're hesitant to go to the expense of a cash register, this is a great calculator for a small retail business - which is exactly why I purchased it. The keys are large, paper roll insertion is easy and the automatic tax calculation key (TAX+) for sales is helpful. The Casio website is also helpful for tech support. I purchased this item used without a manual and needed to know how to set the tax rate. (It was preset to 5% and I needed to change it to 6.5%.) Within a day they emailed me back with step-by-step instructions. If you are also struggling to figure this out and can't find the info on the web (as I couldn't) here are the steps as they provided to me:

1. Set calculator to "print."
2. Press CA.
3. Press SET key for about 3 seconds.
4. Enter tax rate.
5. Press TAX+.
6. Press SET.

By the way, the SET key is the percent key.

Hope this helps!

This calculator comes with color display and most of the tools that TI calculator would have except that it'll become useless once you have to deal with multi-variable calculus & linear algebra (yes, it could perform matrices, but it lacks the tool to solve Gaussian & Gauss-Jordan elimination a.k.a ref & rref). If you don't plan to take higher math classes, yet need a cheap & functional graphing calculator, this gadget is for you, otherwise get TI-89.Get more detail about Casio CFX 9850GC PLUS.

Cheap Sharp Calculator (EL-501VBBL) (EL-501VBBL)

This is an effective and inexpensive choice for those who just want a scientific calculator that works and no nonsense. The bonus is that it's permitted on all SAT, PSAT and AP tests. Buying BASIC HANDHELD CALCULATOR

I am a middle school math teacher and I purchased 100 of these calculators for my classroom and the classrooms of some of my colleagues. After a full year of use, I am definitely glad that I made the purchase. On the plus side, they are cheap and they work. As far as cons go, some of the buttons on some of the calculators have come out (not sure if that's middle school kids yanking them out or just cheap buttons), and the solar power isn't that strong, so if there isn't much light you can't use them. Also, they are quite small, so it's easy to hit the wrong button if you're not careful. Overall a great buy if you really want something cheap, if you can spend a bit more because you're only buying one or two, I would recommend doing so.Get more detail about BASIC HANDHELD CALCULATOR.

Buy Casio FX-55X Solar Scientific Calculator

This calculator is easy to use and had good button feel. It does fraction calculations (a great function for students under 5th grader who are just learning about fractions but don't know about decimals). It reduces fractions and also does division with remainders. My daughter uses it to check her math. It is a great little calculator. Also comes with a hard case - good for carrying in the backpack.Get more detail about Casio FX-55X Solar Scientific Calculator.

Purchase Sharp EL-1197GIII Heavy Duty Serial Printing Calculator

I have this model both at home and at work. They were purchased at different times from entirely different sources. BOTH have developed gremlins. As much as I am a hard core Sharp devotee, I would not recommend this particular model. Both calculators start printing the red P(dotdotdot) line at unusual times. My work one does it here and there, on its own, out of the blue. Anywhere from one to six lines. When I try to use my home one, it does it so badly I might as well throw it away at this point. Stick to a different model, I'd say this is a part flaw they don't know about.Get more detail about Sharp EL-1197GIII Heavy Duty Serial Printing Calculator.

I happen to buy this product directly from HP. I had it for two weeks and the interal display broke. Called HP tech to find out about getting it repaired, and was told that it was my fault that it broke, and that it was not something that could be repaired, bottom line I was told I had to buy another at 160.00. Calculated Industries 4060 Construction Master Pro Immediately

I am blown away by this device. I first tried the free download from the Calculated Industries web site. ... It is a full blown version, without any restrictions, but stops working after 30 days. After about day 5 I knew I had to have it. By buying Construction Master Pro, instead of CM IV, you are getting a much better looking unit, with more features, a cover that mounts on the back while in use so as to not get in the way, and you are currently getting a free software version of Pro as well. All of that for only a couple more dollars than the IV version makes it a no brainer.
I am making cabinets, windows, and doors. In all of those, especially the windows, you need to do a lot of calculating in fractions. That makes the math work tedious at best. I was finding common denominators, then adding subtracting, dividing, multiplying, etc. Having to convert all along the way was a major amount of factoring. This calculator thinks in fractions as well as the standard arithmetic format. So you can insert, 8 1/8", and 3 13/64" for example, and it does all of the figuring for you. Convert your answer to board feet for material costs, is only a couple of buttons away. How many yards of concrete do I need to make the footers, no problem. I want to build an arch top doorway, and need to know the total amount of distance of the half circumference. No problem, just put in the rise at the center, and the run across the base, and it gives you every piece of information you could possibly need to know. This is just scratching the surface. This will be a tool that I will use for a long time to come. As I grow accustomed to its many capabilities, I will use it more and more, for a wide array of applications.
Could we call this calculus? It seems like it. When you watch the included CD that comes with the included calculator software version, you will see a video tutorial that explains a lot of the functions. Some are best understood by practitioners of that specific trade, but it makes me want to learn.
How much roofing material do I need? Just put in the pitch, and the floor space, and it calculates the amount of material. How many cubic yards of soil do I need to fill in the hill leading up to a wall? How many yards of concrete do I order for a patio. Determining hip and valley rafters. What is their length, and angle, and where do you put the bird mouth? Everything is calculated, and displayed in some applications as a sub chart with all of the finished answers in the software version. So it is nice to have both. Whether you are at your desk, or in the field, every option is covered.
I highly recommend the Construction Master Pro, I can't remember when I was more excited about a tool. I can't wait to use the calculator in ever expanding roles.
The price here at Amazon was 10 or 20 percent lower than the other sources, or at best the same price as others, and included free shipping. My advice, buy it, and buy it here. I warn you though that if you download the free trial version, you will be hooked after using it only a few times. Hope this helps.Get more detail about Calculated Industries 4060 Construction Master Pro.

Discount TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TI-34 MultiView Scientific Calculator

Consider the TI-34 MultiView a good calculator as long as you accept the fact that it is not an inexpensive substitute for the TI-83, 84, or 89 calculators. The MultiView has some nice features coupled with modest capabilities. It is certainly an improvement over the pocket calculator I have carried for years. The battery for my old calculator was difficult to find so I decided to upgrade to a more versatile Texas Instruments model. The package describes this calculator as a middle school and pre algebra calculator. I concur.

The package also lists the calculator as capable of Algebra 1 & 2, Trigonometry, and other math disciplines. I agree with this primarily in the sense that any calculator is helpful when working through math problems.

The TI-34 MultiView is one of several Texas Instruments calculators in the $8.00 to $22.00 range. All of these calculators perform basically the same functions. The major difference with the MultiView is that it allows for an additional viewing line on the screen. The best way to describe this calculator's capabilities is that it is designed to assist the user in solving equations long-hand. For more complex equations you have to enter operations a few numbers and exponents at a time and then solve the problem using the separate subtotals. The calculator has a scroll function that allows you to scroll back to find prior entries and answers. If you enter too lengthy an equation the calculator will give you an error message.

Unlike its much more expensive brothers, the TI-34 does not solve for x. The TI-34 MultiView has a simplify function that is best used with fractions. It will not simplify equations with variables. The other thing to keep in mind is that you must enter separate segments of an algebraic equation into the calculator in proper algebraic order or else you will either get an error message or an incorrect answer.

The bottom line is that this is a good calculator for general home or business use. As far as school is concerned this calculator is perfect for middle school. If you are searching for a calculator for high school or college, spend the extra money for the TI 80-Series.Get more detail about TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TI-34 MultiView Scientific Calculator.

Cheapest Casio HR-8TEPlus Printing Calculator with Adapter

This calculator is not like your typical 2 decimal one. It leaves the numbers in 8.5 instead of $8.50 format. I found no why to make it calculate normally. Wouldn't by it again. Buying Sharp EL9600C Graphing Calculator

This calculator is a very good one and one that works equivalently in all ways using either direct keystrokes or stylus motions. It is largely no longer available which is a shame, but some of the internal electronics software is clearly getting quite outdated (and a little bit sluggish compared to some other more recent calculators, etc.). It performs really well however, so if you want to try a stylus-based calculator to see if you would like a much more advanced one like the Casio Classpad330, this is a great one to try out.

All the expected standard (as well as several advanced functions) and numerous data plotting options (with split-screen capability including the option of both a table and a plot displayed simultaneously, etc.) and numerous and reliable statistical operations for detailed data analysis, etc. are available on this fine unit. It also comes with a slide-on, standard heavy plastic cover and a very good manual with very clearly explained operations and examples. I recommend it, if you can still find it, without any reservations.Get more detail about Sharp EL9600C Graphing Calculator.

I love how it shows you in "type" format what exactly you are typing into the calculator. That way, if I lost track of where I was in my checkbook, I would take a look at the last two entries and figure out where I was. And I have to say TI is all I've ever used since high school... Shop For Touch-Screen Graphing Calculator

I have owned numerous calculators by HP, TI, Sharp, Casio, etc., but this new Classpad 300 Plus that was just released a few weeks ago with Casio's latest operating system (OS 3.0) and Classpad Manager 3.0 is just fabulous. It is now in common use in Europe, especially in Germany and also in Australia and in New Zealand. If you purchase(d) the version with OS 2.0, you can still upgrade electronically to the newest version using the Classpad Manager Version 3.0 directly which has a number of very nice new features/functions. This calculator should also be in common use in the USA as well, but regrettably the financial dominance of TI in our marketplace (and the impending arrival of the new TI NSpire calculator) make the likelihood of its acceptance very soon quite small, unless people like myself write reviews like this to promote educators to really get involved with this new product. The real advantage of both the Classpad as well as the TI NSpire calculator (which is not a pen-based product like the Classpad) is the great software that installs on PC's so that a complete emulation of its operations is possible even without the calculator being physically available. It addition, however the Casio (OS 3.0) will do now do Dirac Delta functions, Heaviside Step functions, Fourier and Laplace Transforms (including Fast Fourier Transforms, i.e., FFT's), First order ordinary differential equations, financial analyses, and of course it already performed complex number analyses, etc.
The operating feature on the Classpad that appeals to me the most however is the pen-based drag and drop operations using the Computer Algebra System (CAS) and the interactive menu between each of the numerous types of submenus on the device. Any operation worked on in one area (Graphs and Tables for example) can readily be copied and pasted into another area (Statistics, Spreadsheets, Sequences, etc) just to name a few of the numerous possibilities. The E-activity submenu on the Casio supports presentations to an audience and is the analog for the Classpad of the TI NSpire's 4 screens of information that can all be put on to a single screen at once (analyzing a problem using a geometrical representation in the form of a drawing or a picture, a word statement of the problem, an analytic or numerical equation solution and a graph of the results). Finally, the results can all be ported back and forth and printed/stored, etc. between the Classpad Manager software/emulator and the calculator itself which is simply fantastic to use. I have had this for almost a month now and I am just begining to appreciate what it can do for me daily in my work as a scientist. If students get exposed to these devices in a late middle school curriculum and beyond (after they first master many of the basics of mathematics and science), in my opinion they will want to continue to grow into math and science in their later years and become excited leaders in science and engineering that this country has been famous for having for most of the last 60 years.Get more detail about Touch-Screen Graphing Calculator.

12-Digit Heavy-Duty Print Calculator with Fluorescent Display (CNMCP1213DII) This instant

We are perfectly happy with the Canon calculator. The key strokes are soft and it's easy to operate. If I HAD to change something about the machine it would be the font on the print out. It's not as easy to read as previous Canon machines we've had.
It is important to us to have the same, or very similar, machines through out the office, as we are invariably at someone elses desk when a call comes in to "calculate" something for a customer. We tried one of the 1400 series machines and found it to be complicated in that the "sleep" function was annoying and to clear out previous totals was near impossible. (Yes, we read the instructions)
Living in a small town we have limited resources. It's not unusual to hear "they don't make that anymore" when shopping here. So, I was thrilled to find the same brand and model calculator we use throughout the office through Amazon.Get more detail about 12-Digit Heavy-Duty Print Calculator with Fluorescent Display (CNMCP1213DII).

HP 9G Scientific Calculator Immediately

I bought this because my HP-48 is too big to lug around all the time. Keypad has nice tactile feel. Snap-on rigid case and slide-out plasticized 'quick-reference' guide are good (NB I haven't dropped it yet, but it looks fairly durable...).

I agree with other reviewers that the display of graphs is poor and the display clarity is bettered by other brands/models. In my opinion, the graphical display mode is only useful for viewing a quick sketch of a function. Text/number display is adequate. If the graphing of functions is important to you it may be better to look elsewhere and accept a compromise in other areas.

Most other brands in the price range claim 'algebraic entry - enter problems just as you write them on paper'. In my experience this is never the case - they all seem have exceptions and rules to be remembered and even simple operator precedence (i.e. 2+3x5^2=77, not 227 or 125) is not always got right. HP9g is very consistent and correct in this area. Implicit multiplication (i.e. key 2cos(30)instead of 2XCos(30) or 2A for 2XA) eases problem entry and makes a displayed formula more readable. No built-in complex number handling is a minus point for me. Reviews elsewhere show the HP9g maintains accuracy at extreme values of function arguments - reassuring for professional use. As a working engineer these points are far more important to me than having the best possible display.

Large memory for previous calculations - you can scroll back 25+ lines to check or edit and re-do a calculation.

Quick easy programming in a version of the BASIC language is also a plus point. IF,THEN,ELSE, GOSUB and FOR...NEXT are all supported. Also INPUT and PRINT ease data input and results display which is a major bugbear of most calculator programming.

As you've guessed I like this little calculator. It's no match for the HP professional models (at 6-10x the price...); the graphics might have been better left out; others have better displays: but as a everyday professional tool I find I can use it quickly and intuitively and trust the result where other brands in the same price range have left me wondering if I have really got the answer I wanted.

Canon DK1000I USB Trackball Numeric Keypad/Desktop Calculator, 12 Digit Display (CNM0009B001) Category: Basic Calculators Best Quality

This calculator works standalone including via solar cell or battery, or with a computer via USB. When attached via USB to a PC/Mac, it has a two mode switch for keying in numbers, or for calculating on the side (standalone calculator mode). If in calculator mode, you can still use the "SEND" button to key in your current result to the attached computer for you, but the rest of the time it keeps the results to itself (no keying).

When I received this calculator, the box indicated Windows only (OSX was not mentioned under requirements). I was prepared to be disappointed. I took a chance, and this product just works (no drivers)!
It could've been a disaster with such a hybrid device, but the trackball, keypad, backspace, tab, cursor, and everything just seem to work. Plus (at first I thought USB cable was not included), it includes a nifty self-storing USB cable that retracts into the base. The battery is built-in and rechargeable (factory (and user?) replaceable), and it has a solar cell for working off light.

There are a few shortcomings. I don't know if there's a calculator standard keypad size, but the keys seem a little close together compared to a normal keyboard, but still OK. The touch is softly tactile.

The manual doesn't have much to cover but still leaves a bunch to be desired. There are some a few sophisticated features which the manual does not explain fully (at least to my satisfaction) but which seem standard enough: the rounding switch (up, 5/4, down), decimal point setting (+,4,3,2,1,0,F[loating point]), and tax aids. I think the floating point could've used more explanation of when the + mode would be useful. It's confusing that they're not explained in some significant detail since they're somewhat unique features. That's picky, but for such a nifty product, solid documentation would be extra polish.

Overall, I'm quite impressed and pleased with this unorthodox (yet surprisingly familiar) and versatile calculator.Get more detail about Canon DK1000I USB Trackball Numeric Keypad/Desktop Calculator, 12 Digit Display (CNM0009B001) Category: Basic Calculators.

Casio ClassPad 300 Touch-Screen Graphing Scientific Calculator Buy Now

Over the past year, I've used two different graphing calculators - the TI Nspire and the ClassPad 300. I started with the TI and, while it does a lot and appears to be well designed, the documentation is absolutely horrible and the calculator is also not intuitive. I spent many months trying to learn how to use it and finally gave up. It was at that time that I decided to try the ClassPad and found that I liked it a lot more than the TI. In fact, I'm very sorry I didn't try the ClassPad first.

In comparison to the TI, the ClassPad is far more intuitive, I love the touch screen - especially because it makes entering complex equations much easier than using the key pad, and the learning curve is significantly less than that of the TI (again, I finally gave up on the TI after trying for months to understand it).

Although the ClassPad is a great calculator, I wish that the screen had a backlight and that there was more, a lot more, documentation. I also disliked the small icons that appear on the touch screen and wish that there was some way to identify what each means without having to search for them in the manual.

Overall, this is a far better and more intuitive calculator and would highly recommend this over the TI any day.Get more detail about Casio ClassPad 300 Touch-Screen Graphing Scientific Calculator.

Lowest Price Aurora HC520A big 8-digit LCD, solar and battery handheld calculator

The product pictured is an approximately credit card sized model #HC502A calculator and the heading originally listed it as such but now the heading has been changed to list the calculator as model #HC520A - a much larger calculator and the one you will receive if you order this one. You will NOT receive the calculator pictured (and still listed as model HC502A in the product description further down the page).

The actual calculators received (1 ordered and 2 replacements) were ALL incorrect models (# HC520A), much larger and NOT pocket sized. In response to my message and then telephone call to Amazon about receiving incorrect models, their solution was to change the model number in the heading to the one NOT pictured and NOT described in the listing as model #HC502A. What you will actually receive is model #HC520A, a LARGE and entirely different calculator. Amazon was made aware of this but chose to change the model number in the heading instead of correcting the problem. Again, you will NOT receive the small calculator pictured and described in this listing.

Low Price HP Calculators HP33S Scientific Calculator F2216A

Programming instructions provided reference an expired manual. The new manual has changed page numbers, equations, and equation forms making this program guide useless.

The technical support number provided is a fax number and the email address is returned as undeliverable.

Amazon should be ashamed.

****Once I contaced the seller through Amazon and convinced them of the problem, they identified a printing error that caused older manuals to ship as current. Once the problem was identified, a current manual was promptly provided. I would upgrade my rating to four stars, reserving one because of the delay in my test prep.Get more detail about HP Calculators HP33S Scientific Calculator F2216A.

Save Sharp EL-1801C Semi-Desktop 2-Color Printing Calculator

This is a nice all-around calculator. I'm hyper sensitive to the tactile feel of the buttons on a calculator (or keyboard, for that matter). The mush-buttons of most other desktop calculators in this product's price range drive me nuts. When you push on these units the button will wobble (drastically!) from side to side as well as move down. A rough analogy is trying to sit on a large inflated ballon as a kid; you go every which way. As a consequence, my fingers often slip off the keys and I make errors. I have an otherwise great Canon calculator that has this flaw, and I never use it.

The Sharp has computer-keyboard-type keys. Check out the feel on your numeric keypad as you read this: that's how solid the keys feel on the Sharp. Each key has a mechanism that restricts the key motion to vertical (up and down) only, with virtually no side-to-side mush. This is the sole reason I bought this unit, and the reason was to replace the Canon.

The printout is a bit light (for both black and red inks), and may be due to old/dried out print pads on my particular unit. I haven't gotten around (or really needed) to replace them to see if this fixes the problem.

The printer is a bit slow, but practically speaking it's a non-issue. There is a generous keybout buffer to capture strokes, and, frankly, I like it when I get a bit ahead of the machine and it cranks calculations to catch up with me (yeah, I know; it's weird). For the record, I've never lost a number yet.

Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the light printout (my Canon had a gorgeous solid purple in a beautiful font; the Sharp output is somewhat faded, with a pedestrian font. Again, this may be my particular print rollers, see above). I'm also hyper-sensitized to these things; they might not bother you at all.

Great machine overall. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if this one failed.

Discount Casio FX250HC Basic Scientific Calculator

I ordered this specific calculator because it's the same one I've been using - believe it or not - for around 15 years; since early high school! It's a great scientiific calculator, and the screen on mine finally started to go. I was pleased to find an identical one that was brand new factory sealed.Get more detail about Casio FX250HC Basic Scientific Calculator.
