Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator Review

The buttons skip. When I press them, the buttons give a reassuring soft click, designed to signal to me that the number has been entered. But frequently the number is NOT entered, even though the button clicks. The result is that I get wrong results and have to repeat my work. This is immensely frustrating, and it seems to happen mostly with a few digits (0, 1). The whole point of a tactile button-click is to give feedback that the number has been received. Because of what must be shoddy design or manufacturing, my unit is unreliable. Because it is unreliable, I have to double-check my entries--which slows my work down--or I have to press extra-hard on every button (which gets wearing when you have hours of work to do).

How can a simple product like a calculator be so hard to get right? This is mature technology, apparently from a leading company in the field, but it cannot do the job reliably. Making a calculator look flashy is secondary to making a calculator that does its work and does not waste my time repeating my work.Get more detail about Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator.

Maybe I'm just used to my TI-89 Plus Scientific Calculator, but I had to buy this one for class and I hate the buttons. I always mess up when entering formulas because you have to push the buttons exactly right. I spend way to much time using this stupid thing and if it weren't for my class, I would have sent it right back. BUT it does have all the necessary functions for a finance person.Get more detail about Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator.

Great calculator, sleek design. One little thing that frustrates me though, is that when I'm trying to punch the buttons quickly, sometimes it doesn't register. This can be annoying when you have to type in long numbers quickly, and if you miss a digit, you have to type it all over again. Overall though, good calculator.Get more detail about Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator.

Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator Best Quality

I bought this to replace the previous BA I had used for years but which had been stolen.

At first impression was a little disapointed. It is much bigger than the previous TI I had and does not have the hard protective cover. I had been used to one handing the older model during input.

However, after about ten minutes I was pleasantly surprised. This is a high quality machine. Set it on a desk and it is stationary, input is very easy, and the display is highly visible from several angles.

Bottom line looks and feels solid and stable. Some have commented on the input keys stiffness. To me they feel solid and I have not had a problem with mis-entry.

Calculations are quick and easy to read. Only possible slip-up is that this machie has the ability to accept more variables so there is a little more learning curve than the older models.

In conclusion I am learing to one-hand it and I do like the engraved BA II PLUS logo on the front just a little touch of class on an already nice machine.
